Essential BBQ Rib Rub Recipes

BBQ Rib Rub Recipes

If you want to get the best flavour from your BBQ Ribs then there are several essential Meat Rub recipes to choose from. From a simple Beef Rib Rub, to a wet Mustard Rub and a Memphis Dust Rub. Each can be applied to your USA Ribs or Spare Ribs from McKenzie Quality Meats to enhance the flavour.

Beef Rib Rub

To truly coat your BBQ Ribs in a rich, delicious crust (known as bark) use this Meat Rub recipe using several kitchen cupboard ingredients. Start by coating your Ribs in about half a teaspoon of Coarse Salt for every pound of meat, either the day before or two hours in advance of grilling. Get your Barbeque ready then mix together three tablespoons of Ground Black Pepper, a tablespoon each of Granulated Sugar, Mustard and Onion Powder, two teaspoons each of Garlic Powder and Chili Powder with a teaspoon of Cayenne Powder. Spread the mixture liberally on your ribs and enjoy the flavour sensations.

Memphis Dust Rub

Memphis is well known for its Barbeque and even has its own distinct Meat Rub. This is another one that results in a flavourful bark and you can substitute various ingredients to your tastes. Just like the Beef Rib Rub, salt your Ribs up to 12 hours before applying. Crumble in three quarters a cup each of Dark Brown Sugar and White Sugar with half a cup of Paprika, a quarter cup of Garlic Powder, two tablespoons each of Ground Black Pepper, Ground Ginger, Onion Powder and Dried Rosemary. Apply a little water to the Ribs then apply the rub so that it’s thick enough to form a bark.

Mustard Rub

If you just want to coat your ribs in a flavoursome mixture of flavours that cling to the meat then apply a Mustard Rub. This is a great blend of spice and citrus that will penetrate the meat and infuse it with flavour. You can even experiment with various types of Mustards. Simply combine two cups of Mustard, a cup of Minced Fresh Parsley, half a cup of Dried Orange or Lemon Peel, half a cup of Crushed Rosemary Leaves, a quarter cup of Ground Black Pepper and a tablespoon of Salt. Apply all over your Ribs in an even coating and get ready for a flavour filled punch.
